About Madera

You will find Restaurant "Madera" in the heart of the old city zone, steeped in long history. The part of the Boulevard of King Alexander from Milos Obrenovic it was designated for the sales of guns.

On the site of today's Restaurant "Madera", a restaurant called "Smederevo" was forst opened. It was originally known as the gathering place for where horse drawn wagon and coach drivers and the porters used to socialize.

In the moment era, a multi-story building was built and the ground level offers its featured attraction, the Restaurant "Madera". The story exists that the Restaurant "Madera" has got its name from the wine that some of its guests brought from the famous Island of Madera.

This restaurant was always a favorite gathering place of Belgrade's Bohemians, famous arthists and writers and they affectionately popularized by the nickname "maderasi".

The modern appearance of today's Restaurant "Madera" came about in May 2003.
